The LESCOTT Clan (Clann Mac Eoin)

THIS IS THE WEBSITE OF THE CLAN LESCOTT, A SEPT OF THE MACDONALDS OF CLANRANALD

The Head of the Name and Arms of Clan Lescott is Raymond Allan Lescott of Tilstock, The Lord of Tilstock, Mac M'ic Eoin

The Lescott Clan is descended from John Macdonald from Kinlochmoidart (Eoin MacDhomhnaill nan Ceann loch Muideart) who loyally fought under Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie), during the '45 and fled with him from the field of Culloden on 16th April 1746.

After a period of hiding he fled to France and became a crewman on a French merchant ship and eventually landed and settled in the West Indies island of Nevis. He became a manager and overseer on a plantation belonging to the Pinney family in 1749. He had by then become known as John Macdonald "Le Scot" which eventually became shortened to Lescot and this surname eventuallyafter a few generations was anglicised to "Lescott".

Many of his descendants remain on the islands of Nevis and St Kits and many more have settled in the USA, other islands in the West Indies and now some have moved to the United Kingdom, particularly Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester and London.

The direct male line returned to the United Kingdom in the late 1800s after William Lescott first lived in Cork, Ireland before moving to London.

The current Head of the Name and Arms of Lescott is Raymond Allan Lescott of Tilstock, Lord of the Manor of Tilstock in the County of Shropshire. His heir is Major Rupert Ashley Lescott, BA, Younger of Tilstock. He has two other sons, Charles Andrew Lescott LLB and James Edward Lescott and a daughter, Anne-Marie Kathryn Dorothy Lescott BA.
